Dana Foundation Launches New Outreach Grants for Brain Awareness Week
Submissions will open in October to U.S. and Canadian Partners
June 22, 2020
New York, NY, June 22, 2020—The Dana Foundation will launch a grants program in October to support Brain Awareness Week outreach activities in the U.S. and Canada. Held around the world in mid-March, the annual campaign attracts hundreds of partners each year who plan and perform these activities with the goal of fostering public enthusiasm and support for brain science.
“For 25 years, our partners have harnessed their passion for brain science to organize truly impressive programs during Brain Awareness Week for tens of thousands of people,” said Kathleen Roina, director of outreach and education at the Dana Foundation. “With this funding, the Foundation seeks to expand and diversify the campaign’s reach, so that even more people will have the opportunity to learn about the wonders of the brain and the impact brain science has on our everyday lives.”
Submissions for the grants program will open in October. To be eligible, an organization must qualify as a public charity under U.S. tax laws and register as a partner on the Brain Awareness Week website, brainawareness.org. Grant awardees will be announced in early January.
The program is modeled on the successful Federation of European Neuroscience Societies and International Brain Research Organization Brain Awareness Week grants programs, also funded by the Foundation. Through these combined programs, Foundation support will be available for Brain Awareness Week activities worldwide, beginning with the 2021 campaign, March 15-21.
