Free Video Offers Simple Tips to Help Maintain a Healthy Brain with Age

New York, NY, June 19, 2018—People in the US are living longer, but quality of life remains a common concern. We often hear about the need to eat well and exercise to keep our muscles strong, and it turns out that advice can apply to brain health, too. In the Dana Foundation’s new video, “Successful Aging & Your Brain On Demand,” people will hear from top brain experts about four simple steps proven to help keep their brains sharp as they age.

“We only get one brain, and we want to take care of it,” said Laura Reynolds, director of the Cognitive Fitness Initiative at the Dana Foundation. “The four factors of successful aging presented in our program explains what you can do—starting today—to lead a more brain-healthy life.”

The factors: stay physically active, engage your brain, review current medications with your doctor, and reduce vascular risk factors, may sound familiar, but through the video, viewers will learn how they help, in specific reference to the brain and cognition.

Based on the series of live Successful Aging & Your Brain programs, presented by the Foundation across the US and in the UK, the video includes footage from a recent panel in New York City with notable neuroscientists: Matthew E. Fink, neurologist-in-chief at New York Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center; Scott A. Small, director of the Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center at Columbia University; and Wendy A. Suzuki, professor of neural science and psychology at New York University.

“Successful Aging & Your Brain On Demand” is conveniently available for free on the Dana Foundation’s YouTube channel, and empowers people—particularly seniors—with the information they need to help maintain a healthy brain.
