Dana Alliance for Brain Initiatives Elects Sixteen New Members

New York, NY, February 27, 2018—The executive committee of the Dana Alliance for Brain Initiatives announced the names of sixteen members newly elected to the organization. Research interests among new members are broad, including Alzheimer’s disease; psychiatry; genetics of brain development; and neurotechnology research, development, use, and policy.

Founded in 1993, the Dana Alliance is a nonprofit organization of more than 580 leading neuroscientists committed to advancing public awareness about the progress and promise of brain research. Supported entirely by the Dana Foundation, the Dana Alliance does not fund research or make grants.

In addition to the new members, current member Nancy Y. Ip, Ph.D., was elected to the Dana Alliance executive committee. Ip is Vice President for Research and Graduate Studies, Morningside Professor of Life Science, and Director of the State Key Laboratory of Molecular Neuroscience at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.

Recognized as leaders in their respective fields, Dana Alliance members are among the world’s foremost authorities in neuroscience research and clinical neurology. Each has made a personal commitment to support the mission of the Dana Alliance through active participation in outreach and educational activities, such as Brain Awareness Week (March 12-18, 2018).

The Dana Foundation is a private philanthropic dedicated to advancing understanding about the brain in health and disease through research grants and public outreach.
